I only had to attach the handle to the blade. A standard open end wrench was provided as if they assumed you would not even have the most basic tools in your house. Normally these things are good insurance against any further snowfalls, but that was not the case when we got a light dusting several days after I stood it up against the wall of my barn. Make no mistake, this is not a snow shovel! This is a snow pusher. You can’t dig and lift. All action is pushing. The large foot on the bottom prevents the blade from digging in, so you can control how much of a “bite” you can take at one time. The ManPlow is stellar for clearing an inch or two off my driveway. You can angle the blade, leading one edge ahead of the other, and literally plow it off to one side. The plastic edge is quiet, and planes the snoww off right down to the surface. The ManPlow is also good for cleaning up after plowing or snowthrowing. What it’s not good for: I’ve since been “rewarded” with a couple of large snowfalls. This gave me an opportunity to try it out in the deep stuff by pushing the snow away from the house before getting behind it with my tractor and plow. It’s not good. I weigh a little over 200lbs., and I couldn’t push a 7″ meduim weight snowfall more than 6 feet. I tried the slice at a time method, and although it worked, it was slow. In summation, the ManPlow is well constructed, and is great for plowing sidewalks, and limited areas. It’s also good for getting rid of the light stuff that snowthrowers, and plows can’t handle. But for anything over 4″, I’ll pull out the heavy equipment. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. The wear strip has a flat bottom (2.5 inches, front to back) that allows you to direct the blade up or down in the snow. If you lower the handle, the blade rides up in the snow, and if you raise the handle the blade digs into the snow. I use this feature to create a snow ramp into the yard. As I approach the edge of the driveway, I just lower the handle and the blade goes up and into the yard so you can push the snow well out of the way. The wear strip is also designed so you can pull snow toward you. This is great for pulling snow away from objects like car tires, fences, walls, etc.. The Manplow itself is light for its size. If you are young and strong you could also use the Manplow for deeper snow, it’s solidly built. However, the stress on the body (heart, shoulders and back) increases quickly if the snow is deeper than about 2 inches. For 2 to 8 inches, I use the Sno Wovel for shoveling and transporting the snow, and the Manplow for sweeping the snow into piles for shoveling. 4 of 6 people found the following review helpful. |
